Fern-Leaf Hop Bush
Form and Size: A dwarf or small, spreading shrub, 0.5-2m high, with spreading branches, usually sticky and hairy
Distribution: From White Mountains, north Qld to western Vic; in woodlands or heathlands
Leaves: Pinnate to 4cm long; 6-14 leaflets, usually opposite, oblong or narrow egg-shaped, shiny, sticky, dark green, tip toothed, to 0.8cm long
Flowers: Male and female on separate plants, occasionally bi-sexual; borne in clusters in the leaf axils
Flowering Period: May to December
Fruit: Capsules, 4-winged, pink or purplish-red, 2cm x 2cm
Cultivation/Notes: Propagate from treated seed or cuttings. Occurs on a wide range of soils and climates, but generally in areas with extended dry periods.
