Woolly Pear Fruit

Form and Size: A bushy small tree to 6m high

Distribution: Rainforests of north-eastern Qld

Leaves: Pinnate, to 20cm long; 2-8 leaflets, egg-shaped, stiff-textured, hairy beneath, veins prominent beneath, margins wavy, to 10cm x 5cm

Flowers: Greenish, small; borne on spikes to 8cm long

Flowering Period: January to February

Fruit: Capsules, bright red, about 1.5cm across; 2-3 valves

Cultivation/Notes: Propagate from fresh seed. An ornamental small tree with attractive leaves and colourful fruit. Would need a little protection and well drained, loamy soil.
