White Oak, Soap Box
Form and Size: A tall shrub or small tree, 3-12m high
Distribution: Rainforests of north-eastern Qld
Leaves: Egg-shaped, hairy beneath, 8-17cm x 3-7cm; new growth densely hairy
Bark: Grey, corky
Flowers: White, about 0.8cm diameter, 5 petals; borne in panicles arising opposite the leaves
Flowering Period: November to December
Fruit: Black, oval, about 2cm long, succulent
Cultivation/Notes: Propagate from seed. Needs well drained soil in a protected, semi-shaded position
