Hoop Pine

Form and Size: Large, erect tree with a straight trunk

Distribution: Ranges and coastal areas of eastern Qld. and northern N.S.W.;
in rainforest and along streams and rocky gorges

Leaves: Narrow, triangular in shape, crowded on the branchlets, 0.8-1.5cm long

Bark: Dark brown, rough; horizontal cracks form hoops or bands on the trunk

Flowers-Fruit: This is a conifer and carries female cones 5-10cm x 5-7cm, (below)

Cultivation/Notes: Propagate from seed or cuttings. A very tall tree suitable for parks or larger areas only. Fast growing and tolerant of a wide range of conditions.
